During the apparitions at Fatima, Our Lady encouraged the three shepherd children to offer sacrifices for the conversion of sinners and taught them this prayer to say often, especially when making sacrifices:
“O my Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that I offer this sacrifice to You.”
