Our 3rd quarterly blood drive has been rescheduled for Sunday October 11, 2026 from 8:30 am with the last donation accepted by 1:00 pm.  As usual, it will be held in The Lourdes Center, lower level.
 
The pool of blood donors continues to shrink as our population ages.  Many of those who used to give are now unable to do so and, in some cases, are now the recipients of the donations.
Additionally, there is a shortage of the blood supply in and around Pittsburgh.   If you have thought about giving blood but haven't, please consider becoming a donor.  The process takes about an hour (this includes completing a health questionnaire, having a mini-physical, then giving the blood which, in itself takes about 10-15 minutes, then you sit for about 5-10 minutes with a drink and a snack).
 
Giving blood is 'visiting the sick' - one of the important corporal works of Mercy - and while you're not physically visiting them, your donation of blood helps patients heal.  Giving blood is truly an act of loving our neighbor.
 
This quarter, Vitalant's incentive is a chance to win one of two prizes of $10,000.00.   Even if you can't give blood, those who come to try will be eligible for this incentive.
